About Joy DeKok

Joy started dreaming about writing for kids when she was four. She loved the way the words looked on the pages and wanted to see her own stories there. It took a long time, but her dream came true.

Joy lives with her husband Jon and their two puppies (Sophie & Tucker) on thirty-five acres of woods and field. Joy and Jon are delighted to spend time with the kids in their lives riding on their Jon Deere Gator, walking in the woods, or sitting down by the bullfrog bog watching the dragonflies and red-winged blackbirds who live in their cattail patch. Joy also reads to kids who visit, fixes root beer floats, and listens to their dreams.

 Some of Joy’s favorite things to do are: reading, writing, doodling, watching fun movies, and walking. She keeps a close eye on the wildlife in her backyard: deer, raccoons, many kinds of birds, fox, opossum and the occasional skunk. In the evening she can hear the howling coyote and the hooting owls.
